Brief Heads-up of What Is Happening in our Diocese and Parish

06-11-2021Weekly LetterFr. Robert S. Aliunzi, AJ

As I have been consistently pointing out the last couple of months, a lot of very positive and uplifting things are constantly unfolding in our Church. The biggest news of this is that beginning July 1, 2021, Bishop Olmsted has lifted the dispensation from Sunday obligation. Given the current status of the pandemic and the availability of the vaccine, Bishop believes that it is now time for the Church to take a safe and appropriate measure forward in our approach to Mass and the Eucharist.

Please refer HERE to the details of this letter.

“WE”-L-“COME” Back Home St. Andrew Parish Family!

06-04-2021Weekly LetterFr. Robert S. Aliunzi, AJ

Dear St. Andrew,

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you for being present either physically or virtually with your parish these past several months! We have felt your presence and want to invite you to come back ‘home’! For those of you still considering coming back in person, I would like to encourage you to do so as things are much better now than sixteen months ago. Know that we have missed you. However, during these times of separation due to this pandemic, I would also like to offer you my sincere and heartfelt apology if we as your Parish were not able to be present with you and meet your needs in these trying times.

Things are now much better and can only continue getting better. So, please, encourage your friends and family members to return to Mass in person. The Lord, truly present in the Eucharist is there to protect you and bless you!

Beyond the Pandemic, Our Gaze Now Turns Towards the Eucharist

05-21-2021Weekly LetterFr. Robert S. Aliunzi, AJ

Dear St. Andrew,

Over the last sixteen months, we have concentrated our attention on managing the pandemic, keeping you safe and addressing the constantly changing challenges as you came to worship. These challenges, concerns and the precautions we take to keep safe should continue as much as possible even as we continue to rise with Christ. However, now moving forward, our bishop has invited us now to shift our attention and gaze on what he calls the Heart of our faith, the Eucharist, which the catechism of the Catholic Church also describes as the source and summit of our faith.

Bishop Speaks Powerfully in Defense of the Dignity of Human Life

05-14-2021Weekly LetterFr. Robert S. Aliunzi, AJ

Dear St. Andrew,

Last week, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco released a pastoral letter entitled “Before I Formed You in the Womb I Knew You“ in which he offers a powerful defense of the Church’s teaching on the dignity of all human life, which dignity, bishop Olmsted says, “logically and morally requires a consistent condemnation of abortion”.

Bishop Olmsted goes on to recommend the said Letter highly to all the Catholic faithful of the Diocese of Phoenix, and all people of good will who desire to know why the Church cannot and will not change her traditional defense of motherhood and the most vulnerable in the womb. Responding to Bishop’s recommendation, I reproduce Bishop Olmsted’s letter in support of Archbishop Cordileone’s Pastoral Letter which I encourage you to find time to read in its entirety. Bishop Olmsted writes:
